Why a three-letter name is not a $99 item

There are 17,576 three-letter combinations in the Latin alphabet. Strip out the ones nobody can pronounce, the ones that spell something unfortunate, and the role addresses that are structurally unsellable, and what remains is a few thousand — across the entire lifetime of the domain, worldwide.

Five characters gives you 11.8 million combinations. That is why Standard has a list price and Signature does not: one is a product, the other is closer to a plate number.

Say-once test — if you can give it over a phone call without spelling it, it is premium.
No digits — a number on the end is the universal signal that you were late.
One meaning — real words beat invented ones, because people already know how to spell them.

About the names themselves

What actually makes an email address "premium"?

Length and pronounceability, nothing else. An address you can say once over a phone line and have the other person spell correctly is worth more than one you have to repeat twice. In practice: three to five characters, a single real word, or a clean firstname.lastname with no digits attached.

How many three-letter addresses can there ever be?

17,576 using letters alone — and only a small fraction of those are pronounceable, meaningful, or free of unfortunate readings. Subtract the reserved role addresses and the genuinely desirable set is in the low thousands, permanently. That is the entire supply, for the life of the domain.

Can I resell my address later?

A lifetime licence can be transferred once to a person you nominate, and we re-issue the mailbox to them. Annual plans are not transferable. We do not run a resale marketplace and we do not broker private sales between customers — if you want a name, buy it from us.

The name I want says it's taken. Now what?

Ask us anyway. Some short names are held back rather than sold and can be released on request. If it is genuinely in use we will say so plainly and suggest close alternatives that are still clean — no waiting list, no auction, no artificial scarcity theatre.

Can I change my address after buying?

Lifetime licences include one free address change in the first 30 days, provided the new name is the same tier or lower and is available. After that, and on annual plans, a change is a new purchase. Get the spelling right in the checker first — that is what it is for.
