Refund policy

All sales are final.

No refund window, no partial refunds, no pro-rata credit. This page explains why, and names the narrow exceptions that do exist.

Last updated: [COMPLETE: date] · Applies to every purchase made through portal.owrbit.com

The short version

When you buy an @inbox.my address, that address is immediately withdrawn from sale for every other buyer on earth. It cannot be returned to stock. Because of that, no purchase is refundable — not within 24 hours, not if you change your mind, not if you never use the mailbox, and not for the unused remainder of a term.

1. Why there is no refund window

Most digital products can be resold to the next customer, which is what makes a cooling-off period practical. An email address cannot. Each one is unique: the moment [email protected] is assigned to you it is permanently unavailable to everyone else, and returning it to the pool after a refund would mean the mailbox you had — with whatever arrived in it — could later belong to a stranger.

Cryptocurrency settlement compounds this. Refunding a crypto payment means returning a different amount of value than was received, at a rate neither party chose, to an address we cannot independently verify belongs to you. A refund process built on that is worse for both sides than not offering one.

2. What "final" specifically covers

No refund is available in any of these situations, and this list is not exhaustive:

  • You changed your mind, before or after the mailbox was provisioned.
  • You misspelled the address at checkout, or chose a name you later disliked.
  • You never used the mailbox, or used it once.
  • You cancel an annual plan partway through the year — the remaining months are not credited.
  • You lost your passphrase and the mailbox had to be wiped to recover the address.
  • Your account was suspended for breaching the acceptable use policy.
  • A recipient's mail provider filtered your message, or a third party rejected mail from our domain.
  • The cryptocurrency you paid with subsequently rose or fell in value.

3. The narrow exceptions

There are exactly three circumstances in which money moves back to you, and all three are our failure rather than a change of heart:

  • We could not deliver the address. If the name you paid for turns out to be unavailable and you do not want any alternative we offer, you are refunded in full.
  • Duplicate or erroneous charge. If you were invoiced twice for one address, or charged an amount other than the one quoted, the difference is returned.
  • We discontinue the service. If inbox.my ceases operating during a paid annual term, the unused remainder is refunded pro rata. Lifetime licences are handled under the terms in force at that time — see the terms of service.

Exception refunds are returned in the same cryptocurrency, to an address you nominate, at the USD value shown on the original invoice. Network fees are deducted.

4. What to do instead of asking for a refund

Everything below is free, and all of it is available before you spend anything:

  • Check the name in the availability checker and read it back character by character. Most regret is a typo.
  • Read the comparison page, which names the cases where a different provider is the better buy. We would rather lose a sale than take a non-refundable payment from someone we were the wrong fit for.
  • Ask us anything at all[email protected]. Pre-sales questions are answered whether or not you buy, and there is no limit on how many you send.
  • Start on the annual plan if you are unsure. It is the lower commitment, and it converts to lifetime later with the unused portion credited.

5. Chargebacks and disputes

Cryptocurrency payments are not reversible by a card network or bank, so there is no chargeback mechanism to invoke. If you believe an exception above applies to your purchase, raise a ticket in the portal with your invoice reference and we will review it on the facts.

6. Consumer rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to override a non-waivable statutory right you hold under the consumer law of your own jurisdiction. Where such a right applies and cannot be contracted out of, it takes precedence over this policy to the extent of the conflict. Governing law is set out in the terms of service.

Before you send the transaction

Confirm the spelling, confirm the plan, and confirm that crypto-only and no-refunds are terms you accept. Once the invoice settles, the address is yours and the payment is not coming back.

Questions cost nothing. Mistakes cost $99.

Ask first. We would rather answer ten emails than take a payment you regret.
