Terms of service

The agreement, in language you can actually read.

No clause here is written to be skimmed past. If any of it is a problem for you, that is worth knowing before you pay rather than after — sales are final.

1. Who these terms are with

inbox.my is operated by [COMPLETE: legal entity] ("we", "us"), an Owrbit property. Billing, invoicing and support are administered through portal.owrbit.com. By purchasing or using a mailbox you accept these terms, the acceptable use policy, the refund policy and the privacy policy, which together form the agreement between us.

2. What you are buying

A licence to use one email address on the inbox.my domain, together with the mailbox, storage and features described on the features page, for the term you have paid for.

You do not acquire ownership of the address, the domain, or any trade mark. The address is licensed to you exclusively for the term — meaning nobody else may use it while your licence is live — and reverts to us on expiry or termination.

  • Annual — a twelve-month licence, renewable.
  • Lifetime — a perpetual licence for as long as the service operates, not subject to renewal or price increase, transferable once to a nominee.

3. Payment and non-refundability

  • Prices are quoted in USD and payable in cryptocurrency only. We do not accept cards, PayPal or bank transfer.
  • An invoice locks an exchange rate for a stated window. Payment outside that window requires a fresh invoice at the then-current rate.
  • The mailbox is provisioned once the transaction reaches the required confirmation threshold for the coin used.
  • All sales are final. There is no refund window, no partial refund and no pro-rata credit, save for the narrow exceptions in the refund policy.
  • Premium and Signature tier names are individually quoted, and the quoted price is the price payable.
  • You are responsible for any tax arising in your own jurisdiction from your purchase.

4. Term, renewal and expiry

  • An annual licence runs twelve months from provisioning. Renewal is by paying a fresh invoice; nothing is auto-charged, because we hold no payment instrument.
  • An unrenewed mailbox is suspended on the expiry date. Mail is refused with a permanent SMTP failure; nothing is destroyed.
  • After a 30-day grace period the data is crypto-shredded and the address returns to the available pool, from where it may be sold to anyone.
  • A lifetime licence does not expire and is not released for non-payment.

5. Your account and passphrase

  • Your passphrase is chosen by you, derived into a key in your browser, and never transmitted to us.
  • We cannot reset it and we cannot recover your data without it. No master key or escrow exists.
  • Account recovery destroys the mailbox contents and reprovisions a fresh keyspace, preserving the address only.
  • You are responsible for keeping the passphrase safe and for all activity conducted through your mailbox.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account.

6. Acceptable use

The acceptable use policy is incorporated into these terms in full. In summary: no bulk sending of any kind, no phishing, no malware, no fraud, no harassment, nothing unlawful, and no circumvention of a suspension. Enforcement is automatic and, for serious categories, immediate.

7. Suspension and termination

  • We may suspend or terminate a mailbox that breaches the acceptable use policy, that is used unlawfully, or where required by a valid legal order.
  • Suspension for breach carries no refund, on either plan, including lifetime.
  • You may terminate at any time by ceasing use, or by requesting termination and crypto-shredding in the portal. No refund arises on termination by you.
  • Suspensions other than for phishing, malware, fraud or CSAM may be appealed through the portal and are reviewed on the facts.

8. Availability and support

We aim for continuous availability but do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee or service credits. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where practical. Support target response is 24 hours for annual plans and prioritised for lifetime licences; pre-sales questions are answered whether or not you buy.

9. Limits of the encryption model

These are stated in the agreement, not only in the marketing, because they are material:

  • Mail to a recipient who has not supplied a PGP public key is not end-to-end encrypted; it is TLS-protected in transit and then held by their provider under their provider's terms.
  • Inbound mail is spam-scored in memory at the gateway before being encrypted at rest. A brief in-memory plaintext window is inherent to filtering and cannot be eliminated.
  • Mail metadata — sender, recipient, timestamp, size — is necessarily visible to us and to the wider mail system.
  • The encryption has not been independently audited as at the date of these terms.
  • Deletion is by destruction of key material. It is irreversible and there is no undelete.

10. Warranties and liability

  • The service is provided on an "as is" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  • We do not warrant inbox placement. Delivery decisions belong to receiving mail providers and are affected by your content, volume and recipient behaviour. See deliverability.
  • We are not liable for loss of data resulting from a forgotten passphrase, your own deletion, or the crypto-shredding that follows expiry or termination.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from the agreement is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost business or lost opportunity.
  • Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are notified to your contact address before taking effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance. Pricing already paid is not altered retrospectively, and a lifetime licence remains protected against price increases.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of [COMPLETE: governing jurisdiction], and the courts of [COMPLETE: courts] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, save that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court. Nothing in this clause removes a non-waivable statutory right you hold as a consumer in your own country.
